Upon the retirement of President Ross S. Whaley, following a nation-wide search, Cornelius ("Neil") B. Murphy, Jr., was named as the third President of the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, in February 2000. Murphy has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Syracuse University. He was previously president and chief executive officer of O'Brien & Gere, a large environmental engineering consulting firm based in Syracuse, New York.[2]
